Named-checked by Kanye and appearing more recently on the silver screen (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Once Upon a Time in Venice), Australian-born model Jessica Gomes has cemented herself as one of the world’s most sought after faces in the industry. Perpetually on the road, she has become an expert in maintaining a sustainable routine across time-zones and continents. Shortly after the launch of her new skincare line Equal Beauty, we asked the Hollywood actress about her beauty routine, favourite cities and style essentials.
TBE- Could you share a memorable travel story and a few of your favourite destinations?
I will always remember floating in the Dead Sea in Israel. A few of my favourite places to visit are; Tokyo for the food and culture and Perth because my family is there. When I’m in Australia I love visiting Cottesloe Beach and Bondi Beach, there are some great restaurants and bars that I love to hang out at in the area.
TBE- And what about the cuisine?
The Dim Sum and Chinese food in Singapore is great. Crystal Jade Palace at Paragon is one of my favourites, it’s always consistent and Jade Palace in Forum has superb Cantonese home style cuisine. With some of the most amazing views in the city, Aura at the National Gallery Singapore serves up fabulous Italian fare. Actually, I love the ilLido Group of restaurants for all their Italian concepts.
The BEAUTY KIT
Jessica Gomes, Founder
Equal Beauty is my skin solution for healthy, hydrated, glowing skin all day every day no matter what the conditions.
TBE- What are your beauty essentials when you are travelling?
I bring The Equal Beauty Travel Kit with me on flights and on the road. It’s so low maintenance and easy to use you don’t even need to be at a sink! All five are must-haves but I honestly can’t live without The Super Mist. It hydrates my skin and acts as a shield from environmental pollution. When it comes to skincare my philosophy is simple, to create a minimalist line for everybody- male, female, different races, all skin types. I wanted it to be very inclusive and to inspire people everywhere to be their most beautiful selves. To me beauty is who you are and what you see in others. I love Monica Bellucci; she’s talented, sophisticated and just so stunning I love her sense of style and grace.
TBE- Could you share some tips on staying healthy and in-shape?
I start the day by stretching and doing yoga in the morning. I love Yoga and Pilates and always visit the Tracy Anderson studios when I’m in LA. To keep my immune system strong when I’m on the go I drink lots of water, take Vitamin C and I The Wellness formula supplements.
TBE- What do you always pack when you travel?
My Sandro jacket (pictured) gives me an immediate edginess and dresses up a simple top and jeans. I think a good pair of jeans and a comfortable pair of shoes are essential for when I am going between meetings and shoots. I love my Céline’s and Lucy Folk glasses, a good pair really completes a look.
TBE- And what are you reading and listening to at the moment?
For me a paperback novel or an inspiring book is the perfect travelling companion, at the moment I am reading ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k’ and I’m listening to a lot of Nick Drake.
